Description

This modest yet carefully designed table finds the modern in the traditional. Thomas O’Brien wanted to work with a peculiar but intriguing convention of early Georgian and Chippendale furniture, where exterior profiles were squared and plain to the point of spareness, and all the most refined moulding detail was revealed on the inside of legs or other features. He employs that reversal with beautiful Georgian moulding profiles on the interior of the table legs and rimming the underside of the table lip. The recurring motif of a stepped, scalloped edge appears on all four sides of the table base. In a different modern note, openwork rosettes of antiqued brass are used in a mixed metal hardware concept with iron ring pulls. This piece is finished on all four sides and features figured walnut veneer on the tabletop and drawer. Shown in optional Oxford finish.
