Julien Curved Sofa

Description

For this elegantly curved sofa, Thomas O'Brien wanted to emulate a type of quiet and refined custom upholstery that is vintage and modern in feeling. The design is a pure geometric form – a gentle arc – that is modern and Continental, with influences of French Deco. I like the concave front juxtaposed with crisp, neat boxed pillows in various sizes. The stepped and faceted foot is another favorite custom detail. Though it is of a different shape and character, this sofa recalls features of my earlier Studio sofa: the same mix of large and small loose pillows, as well as the raised, comfortable arm, interpreted here in a different way. These pieces share a sensibility for clean, tailored detailing that I like to consider in modern classic upholstery. The Julien Sofa is welt-less except for the very finely sewn, piped welting detail around the base. As an option, Julien is offered with nail head trim above the welt line around the base, or welted all over for a more graphic and sculptural outline. Shown in standard Dark Walnut finish. Two 9 x 18 x 3 1/2-inch rectangular 100% goose feather bolsters standard in fabric. 1-piece bench Spring-Down seat cushion and 3-piece Blend-Down back cushion standard.
