Mark Hampton

Mark Hampton was considered to be a legendary decorator of the 20th Century. The tradition continues as his daughter, Alexa Hampton, has served as president of Mark Hampton, Inc. since 1998 due to his untimely death. She, like her late Father, is regarded as one of the top 100 interior designers in America He created rooms for living, rooms that were comfortable to the eye before one became aware of the physical comfort they gave. He considered it his job to make a room "function comfortably" and accomodate the "accumulation of living" as this added pleasure, warmth and personal style. His designs often juxtaposed the rationality of American sense with the romance of English sensibility.
