Henry Francis du Pont was fond of furnishings in the Federal or Early Classical Revival Style, choosing those pieces to decorate the Du Pont Dining Room and the Blue Room, among the public and private spaces highlighting the delicate looking furniture. Classical style ornament included urns, swags, bell flowers, and eagles. Hickory Chair Company's designers have chosen to incorporate carved swags and classical triglyphs into the motif of a modern side table.
